PUPPY FAMILIARISATION
We offer a puppy familiarisation service in order to get your puppy used to the sounds, smells and sights of our grooming studio.
We believe that regular grooming is important for dogs of all ages and when it comes to puppies, it is beneficial for them to be introduced to grooming as soon as possible.
We would ask that puppies have had all their jabs and are at least 10 weeks old and no older than 28 weeks for this service.
DE-MATTING POLICY
Here at Ridgeway, we believe wholeheartedly in humane grooming and we strictly abide by the Animal Welfare Act.
We will only de-mat or consider shaving (using our specialist equipment) if we believe the dog will feel no pain.
It is the owners' duty of care towards their pet to maintain the coat between professional dog grooming sessions. If owners fail to attend to their pet's coat, then in the interest of the animal we will shave off matted areas to prevent unnecessary suffering. We will be more than happy to show you how to look after your pet's coat at home.
If and when a dog is presented at the studio in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. As to de-mat would cause the animal tremendous stress and discomfort and often leaves a very thin and damaged coat.
Shaving the coat is kinder to the dog. Many dogs are traumatised by unnecessary hours of de-matting, putting them off grooming for life. We consider shaving an act of kindness.
Due to the lengthy and tedious nature of de-matting, additional time will be charged.
